Law360 Interviews Nancy Vollertsen for Female Powerbrokers Q&A Series

03.19.14

Nancy Vollertsen was interviewed by Law360 about her successful legal career for the publication’s “Female Powerbrokers Q&A” series. When asked what advice she would give to a law firm looking to increase the number of women in its partner ranks, Vollertsen shared, “Offer options, as one size does not fit all when it comes to equity partnership, contract partnership, and of counsel status. Don’t make non-equity partnership a ‘mommy track,’ recognize economic and noneconomic contributions to the firm in determining compensation, and make good hiring decisions. Firms need to establish what hiring criteria determines the likelihood of success within the firm, as it is not always order of the coif from an Ivy League school. They should also take a look at the traits of their most successful attorneys and apply those to their new hires.”

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
