Tom Woessner Shares his Thoughts on the Upcoming Tax Changes with Minnesota Lawyer

06.28.13

In the Minnesota Lawyer article, “More Taxes = More Work,” Tom Woessner weighs in on the potential ramifications of the impending tax changes for Minnesota. Beginning July 1, Minnesota will become the second state with a gift tax in addition to a new fourth tier income tax. Some tax attorneys are predicting that the new tax will lead to lawsuits, won’t raise much money for the state and will trip people up who didn’t know they needed to file a return.

“What I see from the people I work with [is] if you live out of state, this could give you an incentive to stay away,” Woessner said. “If you are a well-off person who would be subject to the tax, you have the ability to vote with your feet.”

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
