Lindquist & Vennum’s Dan Fritz and Nicole Tupman Honored for Pro Bono Work

03.12.15

Lindquist & Vennum LLP has presented the 2014 Leonard E. Lindquist Award to Dan Fritz and Nicole Tupman, lawyers in the firm’s Sioux Falls office, in recognition of their dedication to pro bono work in the South Dakota legal community. Presented annually since 1996, the Leonard E. Lindquist award is given to an individual Lindquist lawyer or team of lawyers in recognition of outstanding commitment to pro bono service.

In the summer of 2014, Advocates for Human Rights (AHR) increased its efforts in South Dakota to address the legal needs of an increasing number of unaccompanied, immigrant minors in the state. Fritz and Tupman championed the cause of these children who were desperately in need. They assisted in the recruitment of attorneys in the state willing to help these children and helped organize training sessions to assist these attorneys to represent these vulnerable children in asylum cases and Special Immigrant Juvenile Petitions. In addition to this work, Fritz and Tupman also agreed to handle two difficult Rwandan asylum cases, stepping outside their areas of expertise to apply their legal skills to assist the vulnerable. Each also worked on numerous other pro bono matters, providing legal services at no cost to the most vulnerable members of their community.

“Nicole and I reflect the dedication of Lindquist & Vennum’s belief that we, as attorneys, have a duty to use the gifts entrusted to us for the benefit of those most in need,” Fritz stated. "South Dakota has seen a surge in the number of vulnerable immigrant minors who are in dire need of someone to stand by their side and speak for them with regard to the legal issues regarding their immigrant status. Lindquist & Vennum, along with the Advocates for Human Rights and, now, several other attorneys and law firms in South Dakota, have admirably answered the call."

Fritz, a partner in Lindquist’s business litigation practice group, represents businesses and fiduciaries in providing pre-litigation advice and guiding them through the litigation process.

Tupman assists businesses and individuals with a broad spectrum of business and litigation needs, including drafting agreements, drafting pleadings, representing clients in all stages of litigation, including trust and estate litigation, and advising clients on regulatory issues.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
