Bert McKasy practices in the areas of insurance and governmental affairs.

His governmental experience includes serving as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives on five committees (Taxes, Judiciary, Banking and Insurance, Commerce, and Transportation). He also served as chief of staff to Senator David Durenberger in Washington, D.C., and was Minnesota’s Commissioner of Commerce—involved in regulation of insurance, banking and securities—in the Carlson administration. He was a member of the Metropolitan Airports Commission from 1999-2011, and served as Chair of the Finance Development and Environment Committee and Vice Chair of the Management and Operations Committee. He was appointed by the Minnesota Senate to serve on the University of Minnesota Regent Selection Advisory Committee.

Experience
  • Represents at the legislature and before numerous legislative committees the following entities: health care company, glass company, insurance company, municipal power agency, automobile manufacturer, power equipment manufacturer, and a cooperative services provider. 
  • Works with the following legislative committees in the Senate and the House: Commerce, Environment, Finance, Health, Human Services, Judiciary, State and Local Government, Transportation, and Taxes.
  • Represented 24 different insurance companies on regulatory, investigative and disciplinary matters at the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
  • Represented dozens of licensed insurance agents and real estate agents on disciplinary and licensing matters at the Department of Commerce.
  • In addition to representing clients at the Minnesota Department of Commerce, has represented a variety of clients before the following State Agencies: Agriculture, Employment and Economic Development, Health and Human Services, Labor and Industry, Management and Budget, Metropolitan Council, Natural Resources, Pollution Control, Revenue, and Transportation. Also at the Metropolitan Airports Commission primarily with the Management and Operations Committee dealing with Requests for Proposal.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
