Charlie Nelson assists clients with issues related to bankruptcy, debtor-creditor rights, commercial financial disputes, and pre- and post-judgment collection efforts. He has represented clients in state and federal courts at both trial and appellate levels.

After graduating from law school, Charlie served a two-year term as Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Kressel, Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Minnesota and the Chief Judge of the Eighth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.

Prior to his legal career, Charlie was a leader and maintenance professional, serving 6 years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft maintenance officer and worked for Target Corporation as a Facilities Operations Manager. He led teams numbering between 50 and 350 during his maintenance career.

  • Represented national bank in uniform commercial code litigation and subsequent appeal.
  • Represented both indenture trustee and DIP agent in connection with Chapter 11 restructuring of Magnetation, LLC and its affiliates in the District of Minnesota.
  • Represented bankruptcy trustee in avoidance actions for fraudulent transfers in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases venued in Minnesota and South Dakota.
  • Represented national banks and secured lenders in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy cases venued in Minnesota.
  • Represented national banks and secured lenders in claim and delivery/replevin actions.
  • Represented national bank in litigation defending claims of breach of contract and bad faith during commercial loan workout.
  • Represented official committee of secured creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.
  • Represented national and regional banks and other secured lenders in pre- and post-judgment collection activities including: post-judgment discovery, garnishments, priority disputes, redemption of lien interests in foreclosure, and petitions for recognition of foreign-country judgments.

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
