John Cutler is an experienced trial lawyer who helps clients with business disputes in many industries including real estate, construction, oil and gas, finance, banking, securities.

John’s broad litigation experience also includes representing construction companies, computer software developers, custom high-end guitar dealers, title companies, breweries, developers, liquor stores political journalists, PACs and others.

John has experience in the energy industry, having represented E&P companies, landowners, midstream companies, and equipment and service providers. His energy expertise extends to renewable energy, as John has represented solar photovoltaic and wind developers in a variety of lawsuits, and landowners in lease negotiations with renewable energy developers.

Experience
  • Representing banks in many matters following the purchase of assets from the FDIC.
  • Representing the receiver of a $140 million Ponzi-scheme with all aspects of investigation, tracing of assets, claw-back litigation, and other litigation to recover the Ponzi-scheme’s assets for the benefit of its victims. 
  • Representing a provider of fracking equipment in a lawsuit involving a contract dispute with a drilling company.
  • Representing landowners in disputes regarding oil and gas leases.
  • Representing commercial real estate developers in actions involving fraud, breaches of commercial development contracts, and breaches of fiduciary duty.
  • Representing a computer software development and sales company in action for copyright infringement.
  • Representing Solar Photovoltaic energy companies (from industrial-scale to small-scale) related to compliance with tax credit requirements, permitting, employment disputes, and regulatory issues.
  • Representing landowners in negotiations of leases with wind energy development companies.
  • Representing the FDIC as receiver for multiple failed banks in debtor/creditor actions, breaches of lease agreements, and other commercial litigation matters.
  • Representing one of Denver’s largest microbreweries related to capital raising, entity structuring, investor relations, employment, lease negotiation, and other issues.
  • Representing political journalists, lobbyists, and political advocacy groups (including PACs) in First Amendment freedom-of-speech cases before both the Colorado Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Representing Personal Representatives of estates in Probate Court and State Court actions.
  • Representing the largest dealer of custom high-end guitars worldwide in a breach of contract action brought by a former customer.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".
