Since the early 1980s, Kevin Costley has represented financial institutions, principally in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and regulatory developments. Most of his clients are independent community banks located in the upper Midwest. He frequently lectures at banking-association meetings on topics involving community banks, and has been recognized locally in Super Lawyers and nationally in The Best Lawyers in America.

Experience
  • Represented First Premier Bank in successfully challenging the legality of regulations adopted by the Federal Reserve to implement the Credit Card Act. This allowed First Premier to continue in the credit card business and continue to be one of the largest private employers in the state of South Dakota.
  • Represented Private Bank, Minnesota, in its merger with Alerus Financial.
  • Represented Fergus Falls Bancshares Inc. in its sale of its subsidiary bank Security State Bank to Independent Bancshares Inc.
  • Represented Central Bank, Minnesota in connection with its acquisition of the Bank of Naples, Florida.
  • Represented and continues to represent Stearns Financial Services Inc. in reviewing and vetting numerous acquisition and expansion activities and corporate reorganization matters.
  • Represents Seminole Tribe of Florida in connection with its attempt to acquire Mackinac Savings Bank and thereby enable the Tribe to provide financial products and services to its tribal members throughout Florida.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".
