Sonja Trom Eayrs dedicates her practice to serving individuals whose cases frequently involve significant holdings, business valuation, property settlement, support issues, custody and parenting time issues, antenuptial (prenuptial) agreements, and trust and estate planning. 

In addition to her law degree, Sonja possesses an LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree in tax and estate planning. Sonja applies her unique and detailed knowledge of tax strategies, business valuation, and cash flow to resolve the case while minimizing conflict. For over 25 years, Sonja has advised on numerous dissolution proceedings with asset values ranging from $1 million to over $200 million. 

Sonja has been granted fellowship in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a distinction shared by only a few attorneys in Minnesota. Sonja is also a trained mediator.

  • Represented numerous clients in connection with valuation and division of closely-held businesses across various industries, including medical, dental and other specialty practices; bank holding companies; medical device companies; franchise and distribution operations; retail and other service operations; agribusiness; real estate holding companies, development companies and construction companies; and other industries.
  • Assisted clients in the valuation and transfer of domestic and international real estate holdings.
  • Advised clients regarding the tax aspects of property division and spousal maintenance.
  • Advised clients regarding the valuation and division of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, deferred compensation plans, stock options and other unique employment benefits.
  • Represented clients in connection with family law appellate issues.
  • Represented clients in connection with the drafting and enforceability of antenuptial (prenuptial) and postnuptial agreements.
  • Advised clients regarding various estate planning tools.
  • Represented parents and grandparents in connection with international and domestic custody and parenting time proceedings.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".
