Tom Jancik litigates complex business disputes on behalf of clients before courts and arbitration panels around the country. His practice includes many types of consumer and commercial financial services litigation, as well as representing lenders and financial services clients in connection with regulatory investigations. Tom also counsels clients regarding compliance issues, risk governance initiatives, and privacy matters. 

Prior to joining the firm, Tom served as an Assistant General Counsel and the Chief Risk Officer for the Law Division at U.S. Bank. His work included coordinating responses to regulatory investigations, managing commercial and consumer litigation for various business lines, and developing and implementing enterprise-wide risk governance and compliance initiatives. Tom also spent eight years working as a trial attorney at a large international law firm.

  • Managed bank litigation spanning a litany of issues, including complex commercial claims, consumer claims, class actions, contractual disputes, and fraud claims.
  • Coordinated responses to regulatory demands involving various state and federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, state attorney generals, the CFPB, the OCC, the Office of the U.S. Trustee, the SEC, and HUD-OIG.
  • Managed qui tam litigation encompassing federal mortgage servicing and underwriting regulations.
  • Coordinated bank responses to subpoenas and other information requests from state and federal regulatory and law enforcement agencies (ex. CFPB Civil Investigative Demands).
  • Conducted corporate training for bank business line personnel to implement practices designed to minimize risk and adhere to compliance regulations.
  • Served as a trusted advisor to bank business line personnel regarding risk management and privacy initiatives. 
  • Conducted internal investigations for multiple public companies (ex. allegations of employee fraud and data theft).
  • Represented multiple small and mid-sized companies in connection with commercial litigation matters.
  • Represented minority owner of multi-billion dollar real estate development in connection with partnership dispute involving majority owners and real estate developers.
  • Represented large national health insurance company in connection with unfair competition and trade secret litigation. 
  • Successfully defended company executive in a white collar criminal jury trial in the Northern District of California.
  • Represented public company in connection with anti-trust investigation by the United States Department of Justice.
  • Assisted health insurer with response to regulatory investigation by Minnesota Attorney General.
  • Represented Minnesota Twins baseball team in connection with litigation involving the team’s obligation to play in the Metrodome.
  • Represented multiple companies in connection with covenants not to compete, confidentiality agreements and common law duties of loyalty.
  • Represented multiple companies being sued by former employees alleging discrimination or harassment, or whistleblower retaliation.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".
