Experience

Hotel/Lodging

  • Representing the purchaser of the former 601 Graves Hotel in downtown Minneapolis, which has been rebranded as the Leows Minneapolis Hotel.
  • Representing the purchaser of the 225-room Ramada Mall of American in Bloomington, Minnesota, expediting license procurement to enable the immediate turn-around required by both seller and buyer.
  • Assisting the purchasers of a AAA four diamond hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  • Handling private placements and equity offers while serving as in-house counsel to a Midwest-based hotel developer.
  • Conducting franchise negotiations with Marriott®, Days Inn®, Starwood Hotels®, Hilton®, and Four Points® by Sheraton franchises.
  • Representing an owner-operator in the site acquisition, development and franchise agreements of ten hotel properties in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
  • Representing the lender during the transfer of the Four Points® by Sheraton in Richfield, Minnesota.
  • Served as local counsel in Colorado on the acquisition of nine Motel 6® properties.
  • Represented a client acquiring three hotels including one Marriott® and two Hampton® properties in Colorado as a part of a merger.

Restaurant

  • Site development and leasing for a national sports bar franchise in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Iowa, and Colorado.
  • Nation-wide site development and leasing for a chain of barbecue restaurants.
  • Representing franchisees of Subway® Restaurants and TGI Friday's®.
  • Assisting in the purchase and sale of divisions of a Northeast U.S. fast food chain.
  • Representing numerous family-owned and independent restaurants, including leasing, financing, licensing, and business structure matters.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
