Firm clients are involved in every aspect of commercial real estate and include developers, mortgage lenders, institutional investors, commercial landlords, contractors and property managers. In addition to the traditional commercial real estate clientele, the real estate practice group’s client base also includes business enterprises that are national retailers, renewable energy developers, charter schools, non-profit organizations, senior and affordable housing developers and governmental entities. Lindquist advises clients on transactions that are national, regional and local in scope and impact and cover everything from institutional sales and acquisitions to build to suit leases and sales, and ground-up development, to leasing and mixed use projects.

Development Related Matters

  • Represent Total Wine & More with their Midwest expansion, handling all real estate and liquor licensing matters.
  • Represent United Properties in its development and leasing operations.
  • Guide buyers during the acquisition of nine Twin Cities grocery locations vacated by Rainbow Foods.
  • Complete lease transactions for 10 Sportsman’s Warehouse retails sites and an updated round of financing totaling $235 million related to the company’s IPO.
  • Represent Warner Properties in the sale of a $43 million 400 unit vintage apartment building portfolio to a national private equity investor.
  • Advise The Beard Group affiliates in the acquisition, development, construction, and operation of a $20 million apartment building project in Osseo, MN.
  • Act as local counsel for an international private equity firm with Minnesota projects in 2015 in excess of $5 billion.
  • Represent national senior housing provider in $91 million restructuring and refinancing of multiple MN properties.
  • Advise a regional senior housing developer and operator, in six (6) new and expansion projects in MN, ND, IA and FL.
  • Represent multiple affordable housing developers and providers in acquiring and or developing over 450 affordable housing units in MN.
  • Represent tax-exempt charter school borrowers in over $300 million in revenue bond financing for real estate and facilities.
  • Represent and provide counsel to wind power and solar power entities throughout the U.S. on all real estate related matters involving the siting, development and operation of renewable energy projects.
  • Serve as real estate counsel for the Metropolitan Council on regional mass transit light rail project initiatives.
  • Represent Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., an industry leading national LTL freight carrier, in connection with the acquisition, development, renovation and management of its portfolio of regional and sub-regional freight delivery service centers throughout the United States.
  • Represent United Properties and its affiliates in connection with the acquisition and development of senior housing cooperatives and apartment projects in the Twin Cities area.
  • Served as local counsel to a New-York based hotel chain in a $65 million purchase of a locally owned hotel in the heart of Minneapolis’ entertainment district.
  • Serve as counsel on the land registration for a mixed use housing project adjacent to the new Vikings Stadium - U.S. Bank Stadium.

Transactional Construction

  • Serve as outside general counsel to one of the five largest national contractors in Minnesota.
  • Negotiate construction contracts on behalf of general contractors, owners, tenants, and subcontractors.
  • Guide more than a dozen public charter schools through the process of purchasing sites and constructing facilities.
  • Represent the owner in a $50 Million+ sale of a multi-tenant office building in Bloomington, MN.

Lindquist Gets Real: Real Estate Tips from Lindquist & Vennum

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.


AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
