DeAnne M. Hilgers has been named Chair of the Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), for a one-year term beginning June 2010. The Minnesota/Dakotas Chapter of the AILA consists or more than 200 immigration attorneys in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The Chapter provides continuing legal education throughout the year; hosts an annual conference on current immigration issues presented by local and nationally-known practitioners; and maintains an email forum for practitioners and immigration attorneys to disseminate information about changes, policies, and practices nationally or at the local CIS, ICE, and BCP. The Chapter assigns attorney liaisons to various agencies and to specific issues in an effort to bring the most current information to Chapter members.
