Practice Groups
Lindquist & Vennum’s practices grow and change. Associates who join us find an atmosphere in which there is ample opportunity to work independently and also as part of one or more of these client-focused practice groups.
Each associate is initially matched with a practice group, based on the associate’s interests and experience and on firm needs. Our practice group structure is flexible and allows for associates to work with attorneys in several practice groups. The structure also provides the opportunity for associates to switch practice groups as the associate’s interests and expertise evolve.
Associates who join our firm can expect, and should be prepared for, significant responsibility and client contact. We believe with guidance by our senior attorneys, the best experience an associate can obtain includes direct client contact – helping clients prepare for and address their real-life legal challenges.
Skills-based training
Although gaining experience through direct client contact is crucial, we recognize that such hands-on training and experience is not enough. We also require associates’ participation in quarterly skills-based training, which might include developing and honing your writing, marketing and presentation skills.

Pro Bono Program
We encourage our associates to give back to the community by providing pro bono services. We are proud of our pro bono program and back up our commitment by providing associates with up to 100 billable hours credit each year for their pro bono contributions.
Lindquist & Vennum’s long history of dedication to public service also figures into the firm’s professional development program. Recently, we began the Pro Bono Breakfast Series. All attorneys are invited to attend any Pro Bono Breakfast to learn about areas of law encountered in serving clients in our many pro bono clinic settings. These sessions include training on topics such as family law, landlord/tenant law, and criminal law, as well as issues relating to government benefits, immigration, and juvenile court.
