Bob chairs Lindquist & Vennum’s Corporate Department and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He also co-chairs the firm’s Private Equity Forum. He regularly represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions and general business matters.  Bob provides counsel to a variety of private equity groups, including a number of federally licensed Small Business Investment Companies, in their formation, investments and liquidation transactions. His M&A and corporate finance work includes handling control transactions, minority investments, mezzanine financing transactions and corporate restructurings. Bob also provides general legal advice to businesses, including many of his private equity clients’ portfolio companies, on a variety of issues, including contract, finance, securities, licensing, employment, tax, corporate governance, debtor-creditor, choice of entity and other matters.

Prior to law school, Bob was a commercial banking officer and earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.

Bob’s work in the area of mergers and acquisitions has earned him multiple recognitions as a Super Lawyer, and as one of America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in Chambers USA.

Bob is very active in civic affairs. He currently serves on the Orono School Board, chairs the Finance Committee at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, serves on the Executive Committee of the Orono Rotary Club and has held a number of other leadership positions in his church, college alumni associations, sports booster clubs and other civic organizations. He also coached his children’s athletic teams for a total of 36 seasons in basketball, baseball, football and soccer. He is annually recognized by the firm for his pro bono work, and he received the 2002 Leonard E. Lindquist Pro Bono Award.
