Mark is a lead trial attorney and investigator in matters arising from securities, real estate, insurance, investment and bankruptcy frauds, pension and health benefit plan frauds and embezzlements and money laundering. Over the course of his career, Mark has led more than 40 jury trials, consulting his clients regarding litigation and trial strategy in federal and state judicial districts.
Mark specializes in representing individuals and entities subject to grand jury, administrative, regulatory and other investigative process regarding medical devices, securities, tax, financial institutions, public corruption, communications, and media. He is widely sought by corporate investigations conducted on behalf of publicly and privately held corporations.
Before joining Lindquist & Vennum, Mark was an Assistant United States Attorney, Office of the United States Attorney, District of Minnesota, from 1994-2003. During his tenure, he conducted successful investigations and prosecutions of multiple high profile and challenging white collar criminal matters involving public corruption, securities, commercial lending institutions, real estate, pharmaceutical, tax and bankruptcy frauds, and financial schemes directed against federal agencies. During this time, he developed extensive experience in grand jury practice and procedure.
From 1991-1994, Mark was Assistant United States Attorney, Central District of California (Los Angeles) where he obtained guilty verdicts and affirmed convictions in public corruption, white collar and violent crime cases. In 1993, he was the Acting Chief of Appeals and Ethics Officer.
