Thomas chairs Lindquist & Vennum’s Public Companies and Capital Markets practice Group and is a member of the firm’s Life Sciences group. He focuses his practice on corporate and securities matters, including:
  • Public and private offerings
  • General representation of publicly held issuers
  • Representation of investment bankers, broker-dealers, and investment advisors
  • Corporate governance

Thomas has been primary responsible for a number of public offerings, representing both issuers and underwriters. He has represented clients in industries encompassing consumer products, distribution companies, entertainment, environmental resources, financial institutions, high technology, hospitality, insurance, life sciences, managed healthcare, and telecommunications.

Before joining Lindquist & Vennum, Thomas served as a branch chief in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Market Regulation in Washington, D.C. He also served in the Peace Corps in the Philippines.

From 2004 to 2006, Thomas co-chaired a special Minnesota State Bar Association task force that studied and presented recommendations to the Minnesota Legislature on the Uniform Securities Act, which was subsequently enacted in May 2006.

He currently serves as a board member of LegalCORPS, a 501(c)(3) corporation that helps eligible nonprofit corporations and micro-businesses in Minnesota obtain free legal assistance on business-related transactional matters.
