Katie focuses her practice on environmental permitting, land use, compliance and regulatory matters related to project development, mergers and acquisitions, and related business transactions.

Katie‚Äôs experience includes representing industrial and manufacturing clients in ongoing compliance and enforcement matters before federal, state and local agencies, as well as representing clients in the development, acquisition and sale of renewable energy and other projects, with particular focus on environmental permitting and siting, regulatory matters, real property agreements, project development agreements, and redevelopment of Brownfield sites.  Her experience also includes internships at the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of the Solicitor and the U.S. EPA's Region 5 Office of Regional Counsel.  Before pursuing her J.D., Katie worked as an environmental engineer and consultant.

Representative work:
  • Represented industrial and agricultural clients before U.S. EPA, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and County agencies in Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act and solid and hazardous waste enforcement actions 
  • Seconded to a mining company for six months to assist with prefeasibility planning 
  • Represented client before city planning commission opposing conditional use permit application 
  • Represented clients before Department of Natural Resources, Board of Water and Soil Resources and local soil and water conservation districts in land use and wetlands mitigation matters 
  • Represented wind developers in negotiation of asset sale, membership interest purchase and sale, engineering, procurement and construction and lease / easement agreements for wind energy projects throughout U.S.
