Katie is a member of Lindquist & Vennum's Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change practice group. She focuses her practice on environmental permitting, compliance, enforcement and regulatory matters related to project development, mergers and acquisitions, and related business transactions.
Prior to joining Lindquist & Vennum, Katie was an attorney at Stoel Rives LLP where she gained extensive experience in the development, acquisition and sale of renewable energy and other projects, with particular focus on environmental permitting and siting, regulatory matters, real property agreements, project development agreements, and related issues. Her experience also includes internships at the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of the Solicitor and the U.S. EPA's Region 5 office. Before pursuing her J.D., Katie worked as an environmental engineer.
Representative work:
- Represented industrial and agricultural clients before Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in Clean Water Act and solid waste enforcement actions
- Seconded to a mining company for six months to assist with prefeasibility planning
- Represented egg processing facilities in ongoing environmental compliance and enforcement matters pertaining to wastewater and stormwater permitting
- Represented industrial clients before U.S. EPA and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in Clean Air Act enforcement actions
- Represented industrial client before MPCA and County agency in hazardous and solid waste enforcement action
- Represented wind developer in negotiation of asset sale and engineering, procurement and engineering agreements for wind energy projects in Minnesota, North Dakota and Kansas
- Represented wind developer in preparation and negotiation of wind leases and easements in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Iowa, Wyoming and New Mexico
