Michael, who chairs Lindquist & Vennum's Agribusiness and Energy practice, works on general corporate and corporate finance matters for cooperatives, corporations, limited liability companies, and other business clients. He assists clients with business structuring, governance, joint ventures, capital formation and debt financing, public and private securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. He has a strong background in tax and financial matters to bring to his representation of clients. He has also represented numerous supply and marketing cooperatives in agriculture since 1995, both federated and local, and has in-depth, practical experience in all areas of cooperative law.
Michael focuses his practice on renewable energy development and financing in the United States, particularly in the renewable fuels industry, and has helped clients develop, finance, and construct more than 1.6 billion gallons of production representing nearly 15% of U.S. capacity and approximately $2.25 billion of investment capital. He also represents clients in geothermal and wind power development and production. With the resources of the firm’s national renewable fuels and renewable energy practice, Michael also provides business plan and strategic planning guidance to agribusiness and energy clients throughout the nation.
Before graduating from law school, Michael completed undergraduate studies at the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of Bordeaux in France. He serves on the Minnesota State Bar Association's Business Section subcommittee for partnerships, limited partnerships, and limited liability companies.
