Lindquist & Vennum Ranks #1 among Minnesota Firms for Mid-Level Associate Satisfaction

MINNEAPOLIS – August 30, 2012 – Lindquist & Vennum is pleased to announce that American Lawyer Media has ranked the firm #1 of Minnesota law firms for mid-level associate satisfaction following its annual survey. The firm ranked #12 nationally, up from its previous-year rank of #22 in 2011. The firm also ranked #2 on the Non-Am Law 200 List.

Peter Michaud, Partner and Chair of Lindquist’s Recruiting Committee, notes, “This ranking proves up our missive—that by keeping a smaller bench of associates busy with interesting work, providing an entrepreneurial culture where associates can take ownership of their career and listening to associates and implementing their good suggestions—we’ve found a successful formula for a rewarding experience.”

Lisanne Weisz, Director of Legal Recruiting for the firm, remarks, “This is a significant piece of recognition for our firm and its attorneys. We’ve remained mindful that during the recession we needed to stay focused on keeping associates busy and ensuring that the work and firm culture was satisfying. We’ve learned that satisfaction isn’t always about perks—that it’s really about providing quality opportunities, constructive training and guidance, and a positive work environment.”

The Five-Year Measurement
To highlight firms that have consistently performed well over the long run, American Lawyer supplemented their year-to-year analysis with five-year averages of their core data set.  Over the past five years, Lindquist ranked 1st among Minnesota firms and 10th nationally for mid-level associate satisfaction.

The annual Midlevel Associates Survey results were based on responses from 5,638 third-, fourth-, and fifth-year associates (classes of 2007, 2008, and 2009) from law firm offices around the globe. For a firm to be included in the National Rankings chart, they must submit ten or more completed surveys from associates with the firm. This year, associates from 143 firms participated, and 129 of the firms returned the minimum ten responses. A firm's national score is the average of 12 questions on the survey that summarize the firm's qualities, including the interest and satisfaction levels of work; benefits and compensation; relations between associates and partners; training and guidance; management's openness about firm strategies and partnership chances; the firm's attitude toward pro bono work; billable hours policy; and the likelihood of the associate being at the firm in two years.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
