Lindquist & Vennum represents a variety oil and gas producers and investors as well as those involved in other extractive industries. These representations include advice to large oil and pipeline companies on specialized matters, as well as advice to independent companies, wholesale gas companies and iron ore mining operations on both general and specialized matters. Furthermore, we have experience in operational, financial and business organization issues involving oil, gas and mining matters.

Lindquist's attorneys have also represented various parties before regulatory agencies and served as litigation counsel on royalty, operation and debt collection claims. In addition, we have represented institutional lenders on oil and gas projects and have extensive experience completing the due diligence associated with those lending transactions.

Lindquist  has handled mineral title examinations in virtually every state west of the Mississippi where oil, gas or mineral development has occurred, with particular emphasis on the Rocky Mountain states and Minnesota’s Iron Range.

  • Acting as counsel to Baytex Energy during the companies $312 million sale of non-operated interested in North Dakota to a subsidiary of Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation. Our attorneys structured and negotiated the complex sales agreement involving hundreds of leases and multiple drilling wells and aided in the administration of the closing.
  • Serving as lender’s real estate counsel during the final $450 million dollar round of financing necessary to launch Essar Steel’s $1.8 billion Iron Range taconite plant. The firm provided advice on priority issues between multiple lender groups and the preparation of a mortgage to cover Essar Steel’s owner and leasehold interests in more than 300 parcels of land and to secure interests in the ore extracted from the mine.

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.


AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
